Hogwarts is located somewhere in Scotland. The village of Hogsmeade is in walking distance.
The Hogwarts grounds are enormous, and include the Forbidden Forest, the Great Lake, the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch, the gamekeeper's hut, and the main castle.
The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was founded over a thousand years ago by four friends. These four gave their names to the houses to which enrolled students are sorted upon their arrival: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
School Traditions
The school's motto is "Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus" (never tickle a sleeping dragon).
The school's coat of arms bears the animals representing the four Houses - a lion (Gryffindor), an eagle (Ravenclaw), a badger (Hufflepuff) and a snake (Slytherin) - surrounding a large 'H'.
Acceptance and Transportation
