Yes Its Worth It To Expense Expensive Instruments Because With The Help Of These Instruments We Get The Weather Updates Very Closely & We Come To Know About That What Is About To Go In A Next Moment ..........Most Of The Times We Get The Right Updates But Not All The Time.........& All The Time Right Updates Is Not Possible Because It Is Related To Nature & You Can\'t Be Perfect About It !!!

But Time To Time & Day By Day We Are Improving Our Technology !!!

Two days back the TOI revealed that the doppler radar is ineffective in predicting weather forcasts in advance.

Doppler radars are used in air defense, air traffic control, sounding satellites, police speed guns, and radiology. Recent weather radars process velocities of precipitations by Pulse-Doppler radar technique, on top of their intensities. This is a slightly different treatment of Doppler data that has been publicized so much in the United States that the term Doppler radar is often wrongly used by the public to mean weather radar. May the meteorological department have not gone into proper details and are using it for purpose other than it is meant for.

I have lived in the west. Here we follow weather.com every minute of the day. The accuracy with which weather is predicted has to be seen to be believed. It is extremely crucial here because the weather goes into extreme conditions every now and then. The way weather is telecast is in itself a pleasure to watch it is really made very interesting. Till I came to the west I didn't realise watching weather forecast could also be so vividly interesting. If rain is predicted say at 5 PM just wait for the pitter patter of the rain drops and then look at your watch you will know it is 5 pm. In India we don't have extreme weather changes and I don't think we need to spend such a huge amount on a Doppler Radar that will give weather update every 15 minutes...thank you for a brilliant question..!

Even now with all the high tech instruments you get to read lines like 'partly cloudy skies expected. may rain. thundershowers possible ' in the weather report. there is no definite prediction. the only people who would have benefited from this deal are the brokers or middlemen. for them it is always bright and sunny. check the papers for the next month or so and see what they report. if it is still wishy washy then i suggest you rely on your instincts for the same. :)
