The Communists are a very clever lot indeed. It is a party dominated by the upper castes promising the moon to the poorer backward lot in the society. They always take credit to having made great social reforms, but the truth is far from it.The social development in Kerala is mainly due to the pioneering works of Sree Narayana Guru,Sahodaran ayyappan,Ayyankali and numerous progressive writers, etc. The one area they can take credit is with regard to land reforms. As for education they have promoted litteracy so that the people can read their propaganda materials.Casteism is deep rooted in the party and until very recently it was all Upper castes who dominated the party.the situation is the same even today in W Bengal.Kerala would have marched far ahead of other states but for the communists there. Now the party is busy building bridges with muslim communal elements in order to survive politically.Their aim is to throttle the government at the centre and bring all development in the country. No ...more

They are not opposed to progress and development !! see how their party developed and become a very good business organisation in Kerala :-) with two TV channels one news paper a lot of high class party offices with AC rooms !!
one bus service is also there but that is good in a way they are concentrating on remote areas.
They used to say " party is important " !! that is what they are showing now also !!
they are remaining in power in WB ar coming to power in Kerala mainly because they made some vote banks which is never going to leave them. Mainly based on caste and the working class. They are getting vote frm a particular caste by projecting one leader frm that caste as CM and then they will make somebody frm upper caste as CM. You can see it if you check the history of Kerala !!
U see now the working class is getting a lot of sops so that they are not interested to work at all. Now it is difficult to find labours in Kerala. Now the Govt. in Kerala is making new laws against ...more

Are the Marxists' policies always opposed to progress and development? Their land reforms in kerala liberated the farmers from the land owner zamindars. Their educational reforms coupled with the land reforms ensured that all the children attend school and the marxists invested the state funds for education. Why is kerala so literate? It is because of marxists' reforms starting from the 1950s. All the people inside and outside kerala are complaining that there is no industry in kerala and the blame is squarely on the communists. industry will only go where they can exploit the maximum. keralites do not allow exploitation at least in their state and so no industry. what is the harm. they have education and they have swarmed out to other states/overseas/gulf for work. their education has helped them in getting jobs outside. inspite of all this the communists are blamed for all the ills of kerala.
Which other state has progressed so well and equitably? Can the communis ...more

They are very good for common people or say bottom level of people like workers and downtrodden. For eg. the tenancy act which they implemented in Kerala is the main reason of present kerala's overall development. Also their leaders seldom do any corruption and always work for the betterment of the country. Can you show any of their leaders involved in any scandal of commission like BJP and Congress.

I am not a supporter of Left, but these kinds good things are belonged to them.

But they do not agree with the capitalism, which is required for the speedy development of a country, eventhough it is lope sided.

If you are taking about reasonable people, they look at all aspects and evaluate parties / candidates. If in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura, people vote for left, it is because their cadres have done a lot of grass-roots work there. The social and educational upliftment and modern thinking in these states is in no small measure due to the tireless efforts of communists.
To be fair, communists were on the forefront of a lot of "real" issues - like the ground water robbery by Softdrink majors, land grabbing by politician - corporate nexus (in the garb of SEZs) etc. Hence, we should give it to the communists that they identify the problems which affect the common man really well.
What is actually wrong with them is the remedy that they propose. Throwing out Coke / Pepsi would be unfair to vast majority which adores those driks. If there are no SEZs, how will we ever compete with China in manufacturing? And would it be fair on the vast majority of educated and trained Indians if they ...more
