Democracy was derived by Abraham Lincoln as a government of the people, for the people, by the people. On the other side of the scale, George Bernard Shaw condemned democracy as a government of the fools, for the fools, by the fools.
Freedom implies responsibility. Responsibility involves honesty and sincerity. The basic defect in Indian democracy is the low material content of our politicians, particularly the elected representatives. Recently, Supreme Court issued a directive to the Election Commission of India to prevent criminals from contesting elections. All political parties got united and decided to pass an election reforms bill on the plea that laws are to be enacted by legislators and Supreme Court cannot over-step their jurisdiction.

Merit of democracy is that you can speak or write freely aBD DEMERIT IS THAT PERSON LIKE RAJ THAKRE PLAY DIRTY POLITICS FREELY.
Mr. Raj Thakre is absolutely right that the root cause of escalation in caste based politics is the politics propagated by person like Lalu Yadav , Mayawati, Mulayam Singh Yadav , Ram Vilash Paswan , Arjun Singh, V P Singh and so on.... . But for the crime committed by these dirty politicians why innocent people of Bihar or UP should be punished. Why not Raj Thakre and his gang of goondas prepare their guns to eliminate dirty politicians in place of unemployed youths of North India. Where were he and his supporters hiding when Pakistan based terrorists attacked Mumbai? Are goonda elements belonging to Rah Thakre headed MNS meant only to attack North Indians and for destroying the posters of some pictures or attacking people enjoying valentine day.
There is no justification in pointing out accusing finger towards the state like UP or Bihar. The main culprit ...more
