Hi harish...well the worlds envoronmental day is june-5th...... now a days sonamy components r caused for the environmental pollution, this pollution is depending on all water,air & soil pollutions.... we celebrating this june-5 as a special day bcaz to aware about our difficult condition & some preventives to protect our environment........................................... raj

The World Environment Day (WED) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. WED is hosted every year by a different city and commemorated with an international exposition through the week of June 5. The UN uses WED to stimulate awareness of the environment and enhance political attention and public action.
WED 2007
The topic for WED 2007 is "Melting Ice - A Hot Topic?" and will be focusing on climate changes and the effects on ice- and snowcovered areas of the world. The day is hosted by Norway and the main celebrations will be held in Tromsoe, a city north of the Polar Circle, also known as "The Gateway to the Arctic".
WED 2006
The topic for WED 2006 is Deserts and Desertification. The slogan for WED 2006 is "Don't desert drylands".
