Indian or vedic astrology takes the longitudes published by London Astronomical institute and reduces the value of ayanamsa from it to get at sidereal longitudes. This applies to lagna and other planets. No big calculations... no mathematics. only part of arithmatic. In Indian astrology, timing of events are done using positions of planets, lagna etc in natal horoscope with or without extra saturnine planets, using Bhava, Rasi, Navamsa and other subdivisional charts and also employing directions such as dasa, bhuktis etc and also at the same time using other tools such as ashtakavarga, Gochara etc. Even prasna chart is also employed. Some astrologers cast Hindu progressed horoscope as additon and gleam predictions.. Many astrologers use Jaimini and kp systems. to check predictions...Some use udu dasa also... Western astrology don''t seem to have such an exhaustive directions.
