None!

Read "The Complete Plain Words" by Sir Ernest Gowers (published 1954); in Ch. 7 titled "Choosing The Familiar Word" the reader is advised to use "buy" not "purchase" !

(Read it online at http://www.ourcivilisation.com/smartboard/shop/gowerse/complete/i ndex.htm )

Buying is a simple and common man's term for transfer of goods with the payment of money. In business purchase order is placed first to get goods for sales later as whole sale or retail sale!

Purchase is with official. i.e with paperwork like reciepts etc... This term is more likely to be used by businesses and individuals who have to keep track of their expenditures and other monetary transactions in general.
I tend to think of buying as a super-set of purchase, in the sense that it refers to any transfer of goods for suitable compensation.
