Every island can't be a continent ...but a continent may be a island .

Island : land orcountry surrounded by all the four directions by water/ sea/ ocean like Australia
Continent : 3 directions are surrounded by sea like India

A continent is bigger than a island and contains a lot of countries while a island is small and doesn't contain any country

Island has water on all sides of the land. Continent is a land mass.
