FIR-First Information Report.u get a certified copy of ur lodged FIR
if u simply lodge a report in police widout getting the certified copy then its meaningless and it is not FIR

Complaint lodged before act done , to protect yourself from threat, while FIR , is first information record , registered after an act/ incident.
