On more serious note, from earth the sky is only about 70km thick, after which there's an awful lot of nothing.

Allah, it is He Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape and made your shapes good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord: so Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
The Day that the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead).

Galaxy is mostly filled with black matter which is basically sub-atomic particles. Itz widely scattered and does not follow the characteristic of any of 4 states of matter.
