The date of birth of Talat Mehmood is Twenty fourth of February, Nineteen Twenty Four. Before he came to Bombay, he was a famous singer and actor in Calcutta, probably with the name of Tapas Kumar. Anil Biswas, the great music director gave him the break as a playbook singer with a solo song picturised on Dilip Kumar and the song was "Aye Dil mujhe aisi jagah le chale jaha koi na ho". Later on another song composed by Anil Biswas, written by Prem Dhawan "Seene me sulagte hai armaan aakho me udaasi chhayi hai" became a roaring hit and even today is regarded as classic and Lata has gone on record saying that this song is one of her favorites among the many songs sung by her. He was the playbook to a famous Raj Kapoor song; one of the rare songs of Raj Kapoor, in which either Mukesh or Manna Dey "Mai Dil hu ek armaan bhara tu aake mujhe pehchan zara" with Raj Kapoor on piano and Nargis standing in front.
