Another study, in Obesity Research, reported an average weight gain of six to eight pounds over a two-year period after getting married.

We tend to take on the "bad" eating patterns of our partners. According to Sobal, one of the selection criteria used to pick your spouse is how he/she eats. Couple tend to put on weight becuase they have lot of invites and people out of love serve them all kind of dishes. And the serving is also more. When people eat late the calories don't get burnt as they may go to bed after dinner and unburnt calorie converts to fat.

It can even be due to the extra care the couple gets form each other, especially for the first year. which gives a sence of happiness that some one is there to take complete care of me.

Yes , they do. Because both are content. Do lots of exercise and eat more.Physically and mentally happy bodies do gain weight.
