It depends which CFA are you talking about .

If it is a CFA from CFA Institute , USA , then in 90% of the cases that person must have been working somewhere already and then he may get a salary jump of upto 200% from the previous one landing in salary bracket of 9.0-25.0 lakh per annum (believe me , i have seen such placements).
PROVIDED , that he is a novice in financial sector and with no work ex (i.e.Fresher ), the salary may be in the bracket of 6.0-9.0 lakh p.a.

For someone who hold CFA Charter from ICFAI alongwith MS(Finance) or MBA(Finance) as ICFAI give the coupled certificate, salary may range 3.6-7.0 lakh for fresher to 7.2-12.0 for some one with work-ex.

However, the real difference arises when one opts for global jobs. At such a time CFA from CFA Institute, proves a good launchpad whereas the other being India Specific holds not such worthwhile for Global Employers who seek someone with the knowledge of intecracies of global financial environment.
