Less operating cost, project cost s at par with fossil fuel fired power plants, no green gas emission and particulate emissions.

Nuclear power generation does emit relatively low amounts of CO2. Nowadays global warming because of the greenhouse gases is a hot topic. The contribution of nuclear power to global warming is relatively little. This is a great advantage of nuclear power plants.

Nuclear power generation does emit relatively low amounts of CO2. Nowadays global warming because of the greenhouse gases is a hot topic. The contribution of nuclear power to global warming is relatively little. This is a great advantage of nuclear power plants. Otherwise we have to reconsider that the water used in the cooling towers produces H2O vapors, which is the number 1 greenhouse gas. H2O causes about 2/3 of the greenhouse effect. This is because of a positive feedback mechanism. If the earth warms up, there will be more H2O vapors in the air, which reinforce the greenhouse effect.
Nuclear power plants already exist and are available worldwide. So in comparison to, for example, nuclear fusion, the technology does not have to be developed first. Also other new technologies (wind energy, solar energy, ) are still in its infancy

Advantages include but are not limited to:
few C02 (carbon dioxide) emisions when compared to gas, coal, or oil power
relatively abundant fuel supply compared to gas, coal, and oil
historically few human deaths in comparison to coal, and hydro

There are several disadvantages or dangers associated with nuclear power

Clean energy. Statistically, the risks associated with power plants are very small, however, try telling this to the people impacted by Chernobyl or the more recent catastrophe in Japan. These risks clearly exist. The fact is, until there is more investment and development of other clean energy resources, those of us in the US at least are stuck with nuclear power. That said, I think that a good way for those not comfortable with nuclear power to take action is to support other forms of clean energy through investments and, if you have the option, through your choice of energy suppliers.

One more important advantage of nuclear power plants that should not be overlooked is that they employ many hardworking folks that live with these risks every day. Nuclear power plants are often put in communities that lack other forms of industry and these communities rely on the plants for their livelihood
