My only son who is 9 years of age, even though he is very good in studies, wants to play all the time even forgeting food . I know all works no play makes jack a dull boy. but we always tell him to play for a limited period. but he is not listening only and if he is not allowed to play he gets angry and shouts at us. He has got everything at home, games, i have loaded lot of games in my PC and after playing sometimes, he goes out and play. We do not know what to do ? what is to be done ? your sincere advice please.?

To be honest w/ u Gopal, I am at a loss of what to say here since most of my school life was spent in movie theater & in coconut groves :P If he is acting frustrated & engrosses himself in entertainment, that simply means the school environment is not rejuvenating or exercising his brains enough. And schools in India mostly ENSURE that a kid becomes a zombie :) U know it too, unless u studied in rare schools like Bal Bharati Airforce Academy.

Having those "father & son" project sessions helps. A LOT. That also covers academia in an interesting way. For example, an average +2 physics book is boring enough to make a 20 yr old into an Avayaar. But u can do a practical project which covers most of those concepts. Like try restoring an old car? Go w/ your son to a scrap yard, get a beat up car for 10000 Rupees, or get a beat up ol' Jaffa (Jawa) bike for Rs. 3000 & restore the thing urself w/ ur son. That should cover physics. Or for botany , u can get ur son to start a small garden in y ...more

Its good that he plays outside, Most of the children today are only interested in playing games on the PC or on the PS which does not have a good effect on their physical health.
