Sledging could be better called gamesmanship or one upmanship. While sledging the cricketers of the fielding side, especially the close in fielders indulge in a language which may make the batsman angry, it can common abuses also, basically the aim is to disturb the concentration of the batsman who may lose his mind and try a fancy shot due to which he may lose his wicket. Australians are the most famous sledgers, but these days almost every team does that.
