Sledging could be better called gamesmanship or one upmanship. While sledging the cricketers of the fielding side, especially the close in fielders indulge in a language which may make the batsman angry, it can common abuses also, basically the aim is to disturb the concentration of the batsman who may lose his mind and try a fancy shot due to which he may lose his wicket. Australians are the most famous sledgers, but these days almost every team does that.

Sledging is the utterance of some slang words for harassing & teasing the player of the opposite team to break his concentration....And Australians followed by the South African Players are expert in sledging.....
