Abraham Lincoln was killed on 15th April, 1865 by a certain man named John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor from Maryland. Booth approved of the slavery and sympathized with the South in the American Civil War. He thought that Lincoln was responsible for the American Civil War. He had actually hatched a plan to kidnap Lincoln in exchange of the release of Confederate prisoners. But on hearing the speech which Lincoln gave to promote the voting rights of black, John decided to assassinate him instead of kidnapping him.
It is an interesting thing to note that Lincoln predicted his own death, the truth of which had dawned to him in his dream. He had narrated this thing to his bodyguard a few days before his death. Lincoln went to attend the play Our American Cousin on April 14, 1865 at Ford Theatre in Washington DC.
