Sheetrock is made from a blend of sand, water and natural gypsum pressed between two sheets of heavy paper. It is one of the most widely used construction materials in the world, and is typically used to build walls, ceilings and other architectural elements.

Drywall (also known as plasterboard, wallboard or gypsum board) is a panel made of gypsum plaster pressed between two thick sheets of paper. It is used to make interior walls and ceilings. Drywall construction became prevalent as a speedier alternative to traditional lath and plaster.[1]

In many places, the common term is a genericized trademark such as sheetrock[2] or gyproc.[3][4][5] In New Zealand the category is known as "plasterboard" and proprietary brands include Gib.
