It is better said in Gita:

"Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya
Glanirva Bhavathi Bharatha,
Abhyuthanam Adharmaysya
Tadatmanam Srijami Aham'.

Bhagavad Gita (Chapter IV-7)

"Whenever there is decay
of righteousness O! Bharatha
And a rise of unrighteousness
then I manifest Myself!"

I think you have got your answer.

According to Hindu faith one need not need a messiah to lead him beacuse each and everyone is responsible for his own life.If every one is led by a messiah why is there differences in deeds and behaviour of human beings? Everyone would have led a good life designed by a messiah-a well wisher.
