Pongal is a unique festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu in January after the abatement of winter. The festival is in the honor of the sun god and spreads over three days. It includes a lot of festivities plus the preparation of a delicious rice dish called Pongal.

Pongal is one of the most harvest festival of south India,mainly in Tamil Nadu.It marks the auspicious begining of uttarayan-sun's journey northwards.
Pongal festival lasts for four days celebrations includedrawing kolam,swinging and cooking of delicious pongal.
