ECR stands for emigration clearance required which is a hassle when leaving the country.
Once we mention educational qualification as graduate, SSLC and above eligible for NON-ECR category, we will be put under EMIGRATION CLERANCE NOT REQUIRED category.
From 2007, NON-ECR will not be stamped. That is only those who require clearance will have it indicated in the passport.
