Although there are many versions of the national anthem in set in many Ragas.
The National Anthem of India is the work of the great poet and philosopher RABINDRANATH TAGORE (1861-1941). It was first published in 1912, and was for years associated with India's struggle towards independence. He wrote not only the words but also the melody and provided furthermore an English adoption. The melody has little to do with the 'Ragas' of the Hindus. It was sung at the historical midnight session of the Constituent Assembly on August 14 1947 and became the National Anthem just over two years later.
