When the Red Blood Corpuscles (RBCs) in the Blood contain less than Normal Haemoglobin, their Colour becomes Faint, (Hypo means Less, Chromic- means Colour) so called Hypochromic. Similarly the size of the Red cells is smaller than normal so called Microcytic. This is because the formation of RBC is faulty due to deficiency, mostly of Iron. The person may also be losing amounts of blood through Piles or Blood sucking worm infestations like Hook worms.
