By doing pooja at home especially to Sun God and visit near and dear ones and if at all you are getting time, just go to near by temple and worship. and last but not the least it is called as a festival of harvest, do remember the farmers who were sacrifying everything for us to feed us and go nearby orphanage and share Makara Sankaranthi with them and they will enjoy a lot.

By offering something as charity to brahman and by eating curd & beaten rice with sugar (dahi chura) with one or two vegetables.

By having entertainment and meeting in kannada sangha and doing pooja together!!!!!!!!!

With pomp as Pongal.Also by offering prayers to SUN.Then in the evening watching the Sabarilama live telecast for the Makara Jyoti.
