The first digit indicates one of the regions. The first 2 digits together indicate the sub region or one of the postal circles. The first 3 digits together indicate a sorting / revenue district. The last 3 digits refer to the delivery Post Office.

Pincode is a 6 digit code of Postal Index Number (PIN). The Pincode system in India was introduced on August 15, 1972. There are eight PIN regions in the country.

It is a unique 6 digit number, shortly known as PIN code. The First digit denotes the Circle and next two digits denote the area and the remaining digits denote the post office. Thus, very fast and accurate postal delivery is possible all over the country.
Hence, I advised you to use PIN code for your and government servants convenience.......
