Anything over 365 days is long term as per definition of no capital gain scenario made applicable by authorities. Short term period is anything less than 365 days when 15% capital gain tax is applicable for securities transaction.
For investor, short term period could be two three months to one year , medium period could be one to three years and long term could be over 3 years.
