LDL and VLDL are bad. HDL is good. Triglycerides are also to be kept in check as they may affect blood circulation. This is what the mainstream medical knowledge says.

Of the two main types of cholesterols in the blood - Low density lipid(LDL) and High density lipid(HDL) - the latter which is conjugated with protein and easily miscible with blood is harmless; also this makes the harmful (first one) less harmful by its presence. Walking and exercise will convert LDL into HDL and thus provides a remedy for the LDL cholesterol.

Cholesterol is insoluble in water and hence has to be carried to and from cells by carriers called lipoproteins, LDL is called Bad Cholesterol and HDL is known as Good cholesterol, These two types of cholesterol along with triglycerides and Lp(a) cholesterol make your total cholesterol count , When too uch LDL circulates in the blood, it slowly buildsup in the inner walls of the arteries that feed the heart muscles and the brain, This leads to the formation of plaque, a thick ,hard substance that narrows down the aeteries, If a clot or block forms inside this artery, a heart attack or a stroke , as the case maybe, folllows, Lp(a) cholesterol is a genetic variation of LDL and is responsible for prematuredevelopment of fatty substnces inside the arteies, People with elevated triglyceride levels have a high total cholesterol level, including high levels of LDL
