Solar energy is a clean energy. But meeting all the needs of a country with solar energy is a dream that will never materialise. The solar panels continue to be very expensive. Even Germany which has invested the most in solar power, has not been able to meet even 25% of its energy requirements from solar power. Then which country has sun shine on all the 365 days of the year?High voltage and extra high voltage electricity now allocated to big industrial units being supplied from solar power will never happen, unless some miracle happens in the research on solar power.
Hydel and thermal powers ar4e not suited for reasons stated in your question. Modern nuclear power stations with fool proof technology is the answer to the energy hungry nations. Tsunami or earthquake can be equally dangerous if it strikes a hydel project.
