Photocopier is a large machine. But all these facilities now a days available in scanners, fax etc. In photocopier only you can copy something in the paper or sheet. But in scanner you can take photo of the subject and you can save it your computer. Photocopier is an independent equipment. But scanner is normally attached with computers.
