ABVD is a chemotherapy regimen used in the first-line treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma, supplanting the older MOPP protocol. It consists of concurrent treatment with the chemotherapy drugs:
Adriamycin (doxorubicin/hydroxydaunorubicin, the H in CHOP)
Bleomycin
Vinblastine
Dacarbazine (similar to procarbazine, the P in MOPP)

Drinking extra fluids while you are using Adriamycin is recommended. Check with your doctor for instructions. If Adriamycin accidentally spills on your skin, wash it off immediately with soap and water.

The combination chemotherapy regimen known as ABVD consists of the following drugs:

Adriamycin (doxorubicin)
Bleomycin
Vinblastine
Dacarbazine

Almost since it was first established in 1975, the ABVD regimen has been considered the 'gold standard' for the treatment of virtually all stages of Hodgkins lymphoma (especially early-stages) and it is currently regarded as such by highly influential guideline-setting groups including the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the German Hodgkins Study Group, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
