Ten Commandments produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille was the most visually impressive film of all times. The Ten Commandments was acknowledged as the tenth best film in the epic genre. The scene in which God bars the armies' way with a column of fire and parts the waters ("Behold His mighty hand!") and the Hebrews make it to the far shore just in time to witness God's closing of the waters on the Egyptian army, drowning every man and horse, was the scene ever best film and has remained fresh in the memories of many who have seen it.

Mother India....in my opinion....its got the best dramatics...the best songs...the best actors...the best storyline....truly superb movie to watch....i wud put the movie on the same line with my all time fav...Gone With The Wind..:))

There was a Hindi film which wasn't very successful Hindustan Ki Kasam, I consider that film as an acting workshop starring Balraj Sahni, Raj Kumar, Priya Rajvansh, Parikshit Sahni, Vijay Anand, Amjad Khan, Bina, Chetan Anand... directed by Chetan Anand. . .
... and ... Teesri Manzil tie for the best.
Then there were two English films 1. Lost Horizon and 2. The Man Who Would Be King.
These two would tie for the first place among English films.
