Cohesion is a property or characteristic of an individual module. Cohesion is the measure of INTRA-MODULAR strength. Cohesion determines how closely related statements within a module are, that is module strength or module binding. A Cohesive module performs a single task within a software. High-end cohesion is desirable.
Another related term is Coupling which is the measure of strength of INTERDEPENDENCE between modules in a system.
