The Carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) test is used to check how well treatment is working in certain types of cancers. The CEA test measures the amount of CEA protein that may appear in the blood of some people who have certain kinds of cancers, especially large intestine (Colon and Rectal) cancer. It may also be found in people with other cancers of the pancreas, breast, ovary, or lung. The CEA test is often used after surgery to check carcinoembryonic antigen levels.
