True spiritual journey makes u an odd man in the society. A distance is created between you and the society. This often creates trouble with leading a family lives. And in the past, the power of the society on individual was so strong that society wont tolerate a man who wont conform to society, so much so, they have to escape from family to pursue spiritual life.
But today, I think that we can pursue a spiritual journey while in family itself. Many have done it successfully. Besides, once we take up a family, we have an obligation to fulfil all the responsibilities attached to it.
And then there are also false coins....they want to escape responsibilities of the family.. some become drunkards, some flee, some commit suicide, some take up saffron robe!
