N i did a national history day project on apartheid so here's a few answers ",

apartheid was the policy of racial segregation that existed in south africa not too many years ago. when the national party came to power, they had proposed this policy and when they were elected to govern, they separated all the races into blacks, whites, coloured, and indian. They believed that whites were superior so they got the best jobs, homes, medical facilities, education, etc. blacks were often beaten to death for no reason, and many died in custody of police because they were beaten to death, altho the police claimed otherwise. one such person was steven biko. becuz biko revolted against the government he was taken intwo custody and beaten to death. they claimed he hung himself. apartheid ended when the national party lost power and wen nelson mandela was freed frum prison. even tho apartheid has no legal basis in south africa now, racism and segregation still exist unofficially there.
