The noble Quran says:-(2:208) O Believers, enter completely into Islam226 and do not follow in" the footsteps of Satan, for he is your avowed enemy.
Expalanation*226. God demands that man should submit, without reservation, the whole of his being to His will. Man's outlook, intellectual pursuits, behaviour, interaction with other people and modes of endeavour should all be completely subordinate to Islam. God does not accept the splitting up of human life into separate compartments, some governed by the teachings of Islam and others exempt.
In another verse says:-(2:210) (If people do not follow the right way even after receiving such clear admonitions), do they await that Allah Himself should come down to them in the canopies of clouds with a retinue of angels, and seal their doom228 Ultimately every thing shall be presented before Allah (for judgement).
Expalanation*228. These words are indicative of an important fact. Man's test lies in showing whether he accepts reality even ...more

Religion teaches us to keep away from evil. If there is no example of evil, how can we keep ourselves from it ? If all are good, then who is bad ? To know the importance of light we have to have darkness. Presence of evil is just like that. As long as evil is there, Spirituality has meaning.

There is no doubt that the evil, as enunciated by the Asharites, who maintain that man absolutely lacks liberty and freedom is dangerous. It paralyses the spirit and will of man. This doctrine encourages the oppressors and binds the hands of the credulous oppressed. Those who are able to occupy wrongly a position which they do not deserve or acquire wealth by unlawful mean, always talk of the blessing and favour of Allah. They say that He favours whomsoever he likes. His bounty is endless. That is the plea advanced by them to justify their unlawful gains. The under-privileged do not dare to make any protest, because they think that their protest would amount to raising objection against what Allah has ordained. Hence they endure their lot patiently. This doctrine provides the unjust an easy pretext of absolving himself of the responsibility of his misdeeds. The persecuted believes that whatever befalls him, is directed from Allah and therefore to fight against any act of injustice and ...more

Is the Qn from the perspective of a seeker or from that of the humanity at large? Is not virtue and evil relative? Evil aspects and good aspects are often intertwined. isnt it so?

There are two things PURVARDHA AND UTTARARDHA. First comes purvardha, here a man HAS to commit evil acts, face the music, then only he can start with uttarardha, religious duties.See if all will get same marks in exam, who is first? As some one comes LAST, the first one gets importance.Take one example, one ordinary person made fun of DNYANESHWARA, and challenged him, he accepted the challenge, and the bull started uteering mantras! Now DNYANEHWARA got this chance due to that ordinary man, so evil is necessary, we must overcome evil, thats religion.
