It really makes you sit up and contemplate, specially in todays day and age of fast moving world, umpteen and unknown 'facebook' friendship , 'twitter' tweets, busy lives and information overload. You do however still cherish the memories of a meaningful conversation with a old school or college friend[s] or a past colleague[s]. The simple joy it brings to your heart. It may feel easier to just stay in your new social bubble, but making a little effort is worth it to keep connected with these older friends. You cant please everyone all the time and sometimes spending time with one circle of friends will mean missing out on spending time with the other. The important thing is to compromise and not choose the same group all the time. Old friends are gold and new ones are diamond. If you get a diamond, dont forget and ignore the gold. Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold, so goes an old maxim, Anu :-)

Nothing would and should change with the old friends even if one makes new ones. In this journey of life, it is but natural that one would meet up with new persons, some one would like, some one would overlook and some one would go ahead and forge a new friendship - a natural law of human existence. That should not have any debilitating effect on what one's equation is with the people who were already there before. If they were strong and stands on its own foundation unaffected by extraneous factors of one's relationship with others, it would continue to thrive as we go about cementing the new friendship.
But I guess, that really works with the friends in the real world, slightly different from this virtual world. There is no guarantee in this virtual world when those mood swings would take place and with it a complete transformation of even the personality. Seen lot many vanish without a trace, long forgotten all those strong principles of mind that used to be elucidated here in a ...more

I feel old are always like gold. Adjustment with the new one is nothing but to keep oneself comfortable with the new generation. But which I do feel is such that we have to accept the new one with full support and sincerity and faith but should simultaneously keep the old friend in the core of the heart too. Thanks.

Though the chapter "equation is too sweet to be forgotten....", but relationships cant be expressed in terms of equation......each of our closed ones are very much valuable for all of us.....just , think , none of us forget even the members here in qna who are nt here now anymore...but we miss them......we are nt supposed to , or u can say we sud nt forget any of them n sud nt make the mistake of comparing them with each other....they are unique at their own.....as far as myself is considered , neither I accept easily nor I forget anyone who has already become a part of my "Little World..." . Each of them are assets for us....n u know , everyone feels good seeing the right side of the balance sheet....-:))

The very term Friend has a very serious meaning for me...
I dont have too many....and most are mere interactors or acquaintances...
but the rare ones I have...how can their status change...even if I add new ones...
because both categories( old & new ) are of Friends ...
proximity to one another may be a different factor...we may not regularly meet...
but in my heart...they will always retain the pride of place...as a good Friend !

A new equation is expected but this is not so complex math.
The new valuation and revision of old value is so forceful that all can absove it easily.
Hope so.

Hi, Friends for me are all alike as they are special people. But New one are like new batch whom we may not know well and so time will be required to understand them. Old friends are alike old batch mates , who give us the excitement and joy when each time we get the chance to meet or communicate with them.....!

New or old...all are welcome. But yes, degree of friendliness also play a role in our treatment. I make good friend with those who accept me with my whims and traits.

On our journey we keep making new friends may be in a new work place or in occasions. the same thing to happen to our old friends, We will not be in a position to meet them like we did in the past but that does not mean we have ended the friendship. When we meet our old friends we do remember those good days.
There is no change in behavior or equation between the old and new because we are what we are!!!
