What happened to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon ---once among the seven wonders in the world?

The garden of Babylon, built on the east bank of Euphrates in about 600 BC, is believed to have been destroyed in earth quakes after 1st century BC. (whether such a garden really existed or was the result of poetic imagination is a matter of discussion even today.)

They were legendary gardens in the city of babylon now they do not appear to be extant and there is also no definite archeologic evidence concerning its whereabouts has been found
