Arogya Niketan is a masterpiece by Tarashankar Banerjee(Bandopadhyay). The synopsis of the novel is man's confrontation with death and his attempt to come to grips with it. The author looks at the human weakness with tenderness and sympathy. Translated from the original in Bangla, the novel received Sahitya Akademi Award for its off beat theme. The movie Arogya Niketan (1969) directed by Bijoy Bose is an adaptation of the novel.

Bandyopadhyay, Tarashankar (1898-1971) novelist, was born on 23 July 1898 at Labhpur in Birbhum, son of Haridas Bandyopadhyay and Prabhavati Devi.
