Q.

The girls in the pub in Mangalore were chased and thrashed violently. Why? Because it is against Indian tradition to drink or go to pubs. Should we then assume that being assaulted is accepted in Indian tradition? Next time I want to go to a pub what should I do? Take NSG commandos with me for protection?

Soem misguided Talibanised Indians are roaming freely. Their idea of women is that they should stay at home and make chapatties. Thier husbands and sons are of course free to indulge in any kind of activites they feel like. So if we do not put our foot down and start an anti-patriarchal movement against our society, we will find that one day we will be confined inside the four walls of our homes.

No one finds it interesting that the TV crew were present in advance to record this media stunt? Who gains from this stunt? Is it true that NDTV is wholly owned by Gospels of Charity (Spain) ?

First it was Shiv Sena and now it is Ram Sena. They make their own law, execute it and even start punishing those who are found violating they have just created. This is sadly not an isolated incident of groups taking the law into their own hands. Churches and prayer halls around Mangalore were attacked just a few months ago over alleged conversions. In Bangalore, rave parties on the outskirts of the city were raided - not by police - but by members of the Kannada Rakshana Vedike.

What a sordid state of affair this is. Government seems to be helpless in solving this menace. It seems they have arrested 10 of these activists. Soon they will be out on bail and resume their activities again.

Only NDTV came forward to take up this issue. All news media should raise a voice against it. Government should do something soon to nip this sort of things in the bud.

If the law-makers or any other group feels that pubs do not fit in Indian culture, they should get the pubs closed. But then they wont get any attention that way. Hitting / sexually molesting a female is a sure-shot sign of cowardice. And wether politically motivated or not, whatever happened in manglore is probably a reflection of the Indian psyche as of now. Most people refused to help the girsl out of fear , and till the time such people are put in place, these incidents will continue

The CM has tried to divert the issue totally by saying that pub - culture will not be allowed in his state. In that case, let them cancel all the bar/pub/disc licenses. I wonder wether any politiian has the guts to do that.

It is such a shame....The hooligans and hoodlums who did this have sick minds If you had noticed...the 40 odd goondas were all young and i dont think they have any idea or inkling of what india and indian culture is all about...they didnt have anything better to do and their idleness was manipulated by sick party like the Ram Sena.... In the name of culture and tradition.....it was as if they were out for a good time molesting and frightening girls....wonder how they behave with their mothers and sisters... they are not doing any service to the society by restricting the democratic right of a citizen.... who are they to dictate how we live our lives..... If they really want to protect the culture...let them teach human values...spread msg of love and respect instead of violence and hatred.... As for going to the pub next time...lets arm ourselves with confidence and not let such hoodlums stop us from having a good time......they are such lowlifes to pay any heed to

In any situation one needs to also look at the individual traits of humanbeings their allegiance to any party/group notwitstanding. It has a lot to do with the leader who could be a maniac, a schizophrenic,a sadist or whatever. We fail to look at this very important aspect before pointing a finger at any group or groups or it having a political leaning. Such people who have exceeded the limits need to be given life sentence as they are weeds of sociey and a load also on the party/group they belong to.

In our modern society everything had developed but this one many religious or caste tradition is unstoppable.even when we open the news paper we see many news like assaults, the gov.had taken no steps on this but instead they punish the person concerened.like the ban on public smoking they cant ban drinking boz many people are sleeping daily in front of the clubs and ars,so we womens need to be rotected nowadays.it is not safe out there in this world.

ITs very rediculous to do such things at the name of Ram... I would suggest you not to go to pub for recent while.. and take someone always with you, who can protect you...
