Time never allows anyone to retire even if he/she is tired. There is a time for departure even when there's no certain place to go. The time is always right to do what is right.

I don't think it is necessary. You can take a furlow, AWOL or a sabbatical and come back as and when you please. Or play cameo. Given your reputation, it would be an all round loss if you or any other person of your intellect and calibre had to retire once and for all.
