Well sir, most people in FOOT SOLDIER RANK (majority of armed forces) join Indian Army not out of patriotism but out of need 4 social security. And in that, UP and Bihar have the lowest levels of industrial and infra development, so naturally the participation from such areas in jobs such as Armed Forces and national industries remain high.
In the Soviet Red Army, u saw very limited participation from ppl from Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Russia and Ukraine. THe largest representations in SOviet REd ARmy esp in "grunt" (foot soldier) rank were u r Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Tajiks etc. So in countries that have professional armies consisting of volunteers, where they r paid for their tenure, ppl from less developed states have higher rep in Armed Forces ttotal than ppl from more developed states.
I don't think Rahul said "ONLY" but more along the lines of "MOSTLY".....
