I'm from the US and I moved to NZ permanently. England had too many downsides for me. It's very cold and rainy much of the year, the government is like Big Brother with cameras everywhere and very restrictive nanny-state laws. It has the upside of lots of history and culture of course, and as mentioned is a great base to travel Europe. ",

I've been to Australia and found it very similar to the US. Too much so for me. I didn't want to move around the world just to live in a country just like the US but with an Aussie accent. Actually Australia likely has more in common with Canada given it's universal healthcare, tough gun control and such. The weather there is beautiful much of the year, but can be incredibly hot in summer, basically very similar to Florida and Texas. There are a lot of spiders and snakes and things like hurricanes though we call them Cyclones in the South Pacific and floods but these again are no worse than what is common in the Southern states of the US. ...more
