I want India to rule Asia.
But for that to happen, Asian countries must take India seriously and on the world level, China's reputation is MUCH higher than India's- as a reliable partner a smaller country can bank on for support.
Vietnam was a part of NAM, for example, but when the Vietnamese got into trouble w/ the US, we didn't even send in a single night watchman, eventhough the Vietnamese were NAM MEMBERS whereas the Chinese actively supported the Vietnamese liberation forces (NVA / VC). Eventhough the Chinese weren't a part of NAM.
Same w/ Korea DPR. They signed up w/ NAM. Yet, when the UN pirates came forth invading & bombing, India just watched a fellow NAM member get pummeled on the sidelines and again, it was the Chinese who bailed them out.
I absolutely love my country India MUCH more than I'll ever love China (I don't love PRC at all) but still- as far as Asia goes, China has proven itself to be a more reliable partner.
If I was a leader of say- Laos or Myanmar- I'd ...more

Most likely and unfortunately... China will be the most influential power in Asia. India has so many problems to solve. What China has achieved in manufacturing and trading... is still a dream for India. I would love India to be on top... but facts are otherwise.
