Q.

Many people (both maharashtrians and non-maharashtrians of mumbai - especially the anglicised and educated group) agree on principle with Raj Thackeray - Shoba De, Praful Patel have come out openly to defend Raj's stand...only they do not agree with the way he is going about it....... Your views.... Can this problem brought to light by Raj be belittled ....is there any viable solution?

Not only the ways, but Raj Thakrey's stand is also wrong. Raj Thakrey is nothing else but a terrorist. His goons are terrorsing Biharis and North Indians. How is his violent justifed and Kashmiris' violence unjustified? Violence over regional chauvinism can never be justified. There are educated idiots around. They are free to support Raj Thakrey or for that matter any terrorist. And what is this Shobha Dey? Does publishing few books makes one an authority to speak on a subject? There are educated sympathizers of Khalistan and LTTE, but that does not mean that they are not terrorist organizations. Raj Thakrey as well as any other person, who wishes to put a ban on free movement of people in the country is very much an enemy of the state and should be shot down publicly as a lesson to the future separatists. The lamenting fact is that Indian Government has always been soft on terrorists including Afzal Guru and Raj Thakrey. And BTW, who said that educated people have the right stand? ...more

Viable solution is nothing . His ways are wrong so is what is his demands .If he would have raised the issue of Bangladeshis i would surely have supported him .Imagine if people of Non Indian countries especially USA ,Canada and UK take a cue for him and start similar agitations .what would be the result .This whole is our country .Delhi for instance has half of the population of people who are from other parts of country .If this regionalism continues in all the states we would rather be left with Princely states .

Means do not justify ends. Even the ends in this case I feel are not justified. Mumbai is what it is today because of the contribution of so many people of which the contribution of Maharashtrians is a small percentage. The comforts that Raj enjoys on a day to day basis for example are provided to him by those other than Maharashtrians. If he feels that nonMaharashtrians should not be employed then the ball lies in the court of employers who will definitely pick the best for them. If the best are Maharashtrians, so let it be!! And finally this is a secular country where movement from one State to another is not illegal. Mumbai has been there for years as a place where there are jobs and opportunities. One needs to look at history before making claims. Shoba De or anyone else will have their own views not necessarily based on research. We place these people in grooves as being knowledgeable but they too could be found napping!!

Sumitha, With the stand of Bhoomi putra policy, I want to bring Mohalla putra, street putra and home putra etc with hurting everyone in my vicinity, would it be right? It is a joke that Raj forefathers themselves migrated from MP and now a claimant Maharastriyan. We have legal and adminstrative systems to look after . We have democratic rights. Shobha De or Prful Patel themselves are from other places. What are they doing there? If I have or buy palatial house in Mumbai, don't I overcrowd Mumbai? Why against those hapless fellows who earn their living by giving services to each Mumbaiites? At one go, they would do all hooliganism, making traders see hard times, local laws fail, what else do you need to support that all this episode was wrong? And can you tell me, when a person who has divided the whole Marathi community between family by revolting against own guru and uncle Bala T, Raj is talking of Nav Nirmaan of Mumbai? Today the news is coming that Maharatra House is attacked in De ...more

Praful Patel has been on scandals for openly supporting private Jet Airways while the State Carrier Air India has accumulated losses worth hundreds of crores. If he is supporting Raj Thackeray it is no surprise he is always supporting a wrong cause. Shobhaa De might be having some motive to pursue her career in Journalism. We all know Raj Thackeray is not right. He is trying to imperil the lives of so many Maharashtrians outside Maharashtra. Let there be attacks on them and he himself will be chased out of state of Maharashtra or he would be languishing in the jail of some another state for a year, which is imminent.

I am not Supporting Raj Thackeray but what I have noticed in my State ( With due respect to People of Bihar ) as well is that generally a section of Biharis is very irritating by actions ..so this kind of retaliation is taking place by Raj Thackeray & his supporters but the style of beating up & even killing is certainly not a humanitarian way of tackling things. Stricter laws for outside people in a particular state to stop their rowdiness should be adopted & they should be given directions of how not to hurt the sentiments of the Regional People.
