Sai Ram. The best for one need not be best for another. If you need insurance, ULIPS may be OK for you. If you are highly safety conscious, PPF is the best for you (70000 is the limit). Bank FDs and or Post Office Savings come next. ELSS Mutual Funds are next (more risk).

Mutual fund is the best tax saving instrument. Plans are birla m.f. 96 fund, hdfc tax saver, fidelity tax saver. also put in money in section 80.D, and on 15 sept infrastructure bonds are coming, which is under sec 80ccf
