Because the Britishers have lost heavily in II world war(both men and money) they were no longer in a position to control very large area called Bharath. During that time many leaders like Subash Chandra Bose started attacking Britishers from Burmah (Azad Hind Fouge) side almost wiping out the Britishers from Indian soil . But thanks to some group of people in India-they never wanted Subash to rule the Bharath and did not offered any help/cooperation. When Britishers finally left on theri own all the credit were taken by only one person claiming that the freedom struggle is by peaceful means even though many many thousands have perished and finally getting his man to sit as first PM of India even though overhelming majority wanted Sardar patel as first PM

3. Independence Day was that day when people of India saw a change of hands from the British Govt to Desi Govt. No change took place in their lives. In fact they have gone from bad to worse. That's why people of India try their hardest to migrate to UK to live under the ...more

All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attendance. The main event takes place in New Delhi, the capital city of India, where the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievements of his government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle. The Prime Minister also declares holiday on 15 August.

In 1946, the Labour government in Britain, its exchequer exhausted by the recently concluded World War II, and conscious that it had neither the mandate at home, the international support, nor the relia ...more
