Q.

What happened in Midnapore's Shilda police camp, was a big slap to UPA govt., who boost of having all security measures to tackle with a naxal attacks. Despite knowing that it is not going to help every time govt. bows before them and requests them wid folded hands as if they have no other choice. Naxals are taking undue advantage and the life of poor police men n people are always at stake. From the recent attacks, it seems that they are not ready for any talks, but rather they believe in violence. So now govt. should stop making request n should treat them in d same way....Comments plz.

Naxals in a sense are not terrorists. They are essentially people who revolt against injustices to common men. The only aspect in them to condemn is their solution to the problems, which is violence. Unless there presents a strong support within the masses the naxal movement may not be such a strong one. We have to understand this and try to solve the basic problem in a naxal stronghold. And believe me most of the problems are borne out of frustration and due to the ineffectiveness of the state governments there. All major naxal states are the ones who have failed to perform for decades. And now I believe Mr P.Chidambaram, the home minister is sincere and he is trying his best to move in the right direction. The problem is too chronic it needs patience to solve naxal problem. And remember violence is an intoxication and it will became a habit for the user. That is what is happening now. While we have to stop such violence by force we should also address the basic problems in these area, ...more

Why r u blaming the UPA?

The United States military- ARMY AND NAVY AND AIRFORCE- and South Vietnams armed forces combine was a force that is MUCH stronger than ANY THING we have in our inventory today. Yet, during TET (Chinese New Year),Viet Cong rebels- who were peasents armed with Moshin Nagant 1900s rifles mostly- could mount raid even on SAIGON- South Vietnam capital!

The tribal belt is an unlivable misery ridden hole, I wouldn't want u to be born there as a civilian poor as a girl in u r next rebirth for sure. Did u know a LOT of Maoist cadres are women? I haven't been to Naxal area, but I can see EASILY in media pics, u ALWAYS see a LOT of women w/ guns in NAxal's.

Teh Naxals are MADE IN INDIA, like or hate. and they r made up of agrarians. They revolt because of income inequality in India after "neo-liberalization" of 90s which HUGELY screwed over 60-70 percent of our ppl to benefit a few 5 to 10 percent.

U can't expect this sort-a thing 2 b peaceful.

The center may not do anything to stop the Naxal attacks in W Bengal. They may be waiting for the problem to deteriorate. Use the situation to either dismiss the W Bengal Government and hold an early election. Or alternative use the deteriorating law and order problem as an issue for Congress and its allies to win the assembly election when it is held in early 2011.

Like all terrorist movements anywhere in the world they start to take revenge for the so-called injustices done to the socities at large but soon enough the loose sight of the mission n start indulging in anti state n anti people activities,Unfortunately same is true with the Naxals in the country. Not much is known about the naxals and whatever is being dished out by the media has to be believed. Then in earleir times they used to have support of 'Jhola, Kurta walas' wedded to Marxist ideology now this role has been taken over by Tee shirt-jeans clad english speaking people who puff smoke n talk n talk n do nothing else. They are accountable to none n hold opinion on everything. They of no sympathies towards the poor people eho get killed while travelling in train or bu land mines.Even look at the plight of Policemen who are drawn from the poor n backward classes who are mercilessly killedby these goons.Thewre can not be any ground in a democracy to justify violence whether unleashed by ...more

Call me a villain but I like to news of politicians and police getting killed in accidents or attacks. I am so upset with the behaviour of the police that sometimes I feel like joining some terrorist outfit to teach them a lesson.
First of all police in India are not poor, yes they are poor but mentally. Today youths join the police force just because they get to earn lots of money by way of HAFTA. In cities we get to see how the police behave with the common people.
Once in a fortnight I used to purchase Chinese fried rice etc from a poor road side vendor and always I used to see a police van parked on the opposite side taking free parcels and money from him. Since the day he requested them to take only the parcel and not the Hafta because he was financially down he was seen no more. Every morning the police van is parked in the middle of the road and they eat free snaks from another Dosa vendor and sip free tea from the tea stall and while doing so they have no regards for the t ...more

First of all discredit goes to West Bengal Government, not Central Government.
And then, Mr. Chidambaram is wise to adopt a soft line.
This group of violent naxalites are creation of long irresponsibility towards tribal population by consecutive governments.
By the time Mr. Chidambaram has taken over his sit was already hot. For him it was easy to declare a war. But he has chosen the path of reconciliation.
Kudos to him. After all Naxalites are not foreign terrorists. They are our own frustrated brothers and sisters.
Let's wait.
Such problem can not be solved over night.

What happened in Midnapore's Shilda police camp is an eye opener like what happened to the brave Jawans of India while defending our territory against the Chinese dragon. In both instances our security men were like sitting ducks to provide targets for the enemy's guns. The ill trained and utterly ill equipped police personnel of Midnapore's Shilda police camp exposes the lack of wisdom, seriousness and the normal human sympathy for a group of the country's brave security men to be allowed to be massacred by the so called naxalites.
