I live abroad for many years now. Indians are generally percieved as being impolite, poor, uneducated and lack proper manners and personal hygiene when compared with other Asians like Philippines, Malaysians and even Chinese. This is a sorry state of affairs.

In many rural areas people do not have water to bath or toilet rooms, washing their cloths they need soap poverty is the main criteria .Politeness is a refinement we still lack .Even mass media fails to teach us manners , educational system is also is outdated . We need a cultural transformation in India to transform our people .
