First of all we have to understand the differences between Devta and God.
Yes we do worship the Devats for obtaining certain specific benefits from them. But, our books tell us that, they are not beyond weakness in character
The lifting of Govardhan parbat by Lord Krishna and protecting the people from Indira's wrath was done to deflate the latter's ego
